Welcome to Discovering Dayana!
This blog is all about education. Education, for us, happens in many ways. For whatever way you choose, we believe in its power to change people and the world for the better.
Our mission is to bring the joy and value back to learning. Everyone wants a rich, happy and purposeful life. The key to this is to continuously evolve and surprise yourself, neither of which can happen without education. Discovering Dayana is a safe space and a resource stop for learners and teachers alike.
Student
You are a learner. You are a human being who simply wants to grow and expand their knowledge. This tab serves as a resource for you to get to know your options. We will offer advice on higher education, improving financial literacy, tips for maintaining a high GPA, overcoming a difficult class, how to self-motivate yourself through a learning season, and keep you updated about latest scholarships, fellowships, grants, and more!
Teacher
Every student will inevitably become one in their learning journey, but those who make a career out of it need all the extra help we can offer! In this tab, we provide thematic lesson plans, foundational how-tos for teachers, up-to-date information about career options and opportunities, a safe space to talk about the highs and lows in your teaching career, guides to youth mentorship, and more!
News
Keeping up with the state of education is imperative because as our culture shifts, how our educational institutions adapt will be essential to our success as a society. We want to be vocal about the attacks on integrating truth and history in our curriculum, defunding humanities and arts programs, funding for federal programs, and more. We are the only ones who get to define what education looks like to us. And the golden rule for our community: we seek, value, and accept the truth.
Gems
Here you will find gems discovered by Dayana about health, travel, and other things to improve your quality of life (even just a little bit!). This is a personal blog about a young Black woman’s self-discovery through fun facts, new beginnings and hobbies. And of course, it’s still educational!
We are not here to tell you what to think. We have our opinions, our biases, but we are willing to be challenged, moved, and to enter into dialogue about what education is and what it should be. Are you?
If so, we want you a part of our legacy! So like, comment, and subscribe to our newsletter so you can be about the community of discoverers.
